The outgoing Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey has dismissed suggestions that the church supports a political party.
According to him, the church does not and will never support any political party. And he stands with the church and do not belong to any political party either.
Rev. Martey’s comment is in reaction to criticisms that he has come under after he declared the church’s support to remember the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in prayers after the presidential candidate sought the support of the church during its 16th General Assembly.
One of his accuser is none other than the former Public Relations Officer of the church, Dr Emmanuel Osei Akyeampong, alleging that outgoing Moderator, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey, took a bribe of $100,000 from an opposition political leader.
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has however described as ‘false, malicious and defamatory’ the accusation leveled against the outgoing moderator by the former Public Relations Officer of the church.
